Hockey Drills You Can Do at Home

There are very few hockey teams that practice every single day of the year. Most teams will only practice one or two times a week during the winter. If you want to be a good hockey player, then you have to practice more then anybody else here are some hockey drills that you can do at your house during any time of the year.

1 4 Drill

1) Practice around objects

1 4 Drill

This is a drill that you can do in your driveway, or if your parents are nice enough in the living room. All you have to do is put some objects on the floor and stickhandle around them. As you get better at stickhandling around the obstacles you can do other things like deke around them. Make sure that you are doing a couple things while you are working with the obstacles at your house. The first thing that you want to make sure you do is keep your head up. Do not get in the habit of skating with your head down. You will not be able to see what the other players on the ice are doing and in older levels you will be the victim of a big hit.

The other thing that you want to do is gradually increase the speed taht you do the drill. The faster you go the better you will get at controlling the puck and the more valuable you will be for your team.

2) Shoot at targets

If you have a net that you can put targets in, then you should get used to picking the corners of the net. However, if you do not have a net that you can shoot at any shoobox against a concrete wall will do. Work on lifting the puck/ball into objects so that you can get better accuracy.

When you start playing hockey on the ice again, you will have to adjust to the weight of the puck. If you are only working with a ball, it will take a little bit of time before you get used to playing with a puck again. It always helps to practice with a puck whenever you can, just make sure that you do not break anything.
